The primary purpose of the Society is the advancement of amateur rocketry. To this end we own and operate a 40-acre property in the Mojave Desert, called the Mojave Test Area. At this site we host rocket launch events for model rockets, high-power rockets, and experimental rockets. After scheduling use of the MTA with the Society President, and paying the site use fee, if any, the entity in question will have supervised use of the MTA, hosted by an appropriately licensed California pyro-op.

Fees

There is no one standard fee for use of the MTA. Instead, the Society has a fee schedule, accommodating member-funded projects, college teams, and commercial enterprise. Fee deviations may also be accepted, if approved by a majority of the Executive Council.

Fee Deviation

If you wish to apply for a fee deviation, then send your request to the Society President along side your booking paperwork. You will be notified regarding your application for fee deviation prior to confirmation of your booking date.
